The 1x2 in the front should form a lip to prevent things from sliding off easily. Figuring the length of the stiles is easy. Make a list of the parts of your diy shaker cabinet doors before you begin. Cut the doors and set them in place to check the fit before banding the edges.

This will give you two 3 feet wide cabinets on the ends and a 2 foot wide cabinet in the middle. Position the doors over the hinges using shims to maintain a 1 8 in. Figuring the length of the rails is more complicated. Fasten two self closing cabinet door hinges to each door then lay the cabinet on its back and set the doors on the face frame.

To determine the length measure the cabinet opening and add 3 4 in. Use clamps or weights to hold the doors in place. I needed to organize my garage so i build some large storage cabinet with doors. To frame out the cabinets secure 8 foot 2x4s perpendicular at 36 across and 60 across.

Make them the same as the base see previous section and image 5 above but swap out the 2x2 s for 1x2 s. Measure how tall you need the bottom shelf and mark for reference. Center the doors on the cabinet with a 1 8 inch space between them. Take the height of the door you want and add 1 8 in.

For each one you ll need two stiles the vertical parts two rails the horizontal parts and one panel.
